Grandma's Birthday presents
I am slowly getting the rest of my presents made for my Grandma's 80th birthday next week....were my parents house is going to be invaded by family from Scotland. And my Mum wants me to make everyone a keep sake, which I haven't even though about yet, but at least the presents are coming together.
So along with the unfinished wall hanging shown in Exciting button day. I have made her a covered note book.
I really hope she likes it.
Now the rest of my shopping has now arrived which was a nice surprise when I got back from a few day working in London. Amusingly my Dad opened it thinking that it was for him, unsurprisingly he was less than impressed with lots of bits of material hehe.
Only problem is they are to pretty to use.

Exciting button day
Buttons arrived today uber excited they are so pretty.
The parcel arrived from Blooming Felt this morning it was so pretty I had to take a photo :). I could not believe how quickly they arrived very impressed, and they also sent me a lovely e-mail saying that they were on the way and to let them know when they arrived. How nice is that!!!
The buttons were really varied and colorful. This is defiantly a much better way of getting buttons than choosing them individually.
Lots and lots of buttons :) childish moment I know just couldn't help myself.
Anyway the serious stuff its my Grandma 80th birthday next week so I have started on her present.
Its a Cath Kidston design from her book Make! (with some of my lovely new buttons) and it will have the date and her name on at the bottom and be framed.

Shopping Spree
In the past week I haven't made anything except were friends I have been visiting started their sentences with 'you can sew right?' Its been a good week gallivanting before starting my job next week :) but to make up for my lack of productivity I've been on a shopping spree today. NEW FABRIC (well almost new) from The Vintage Felt Market
They are beautiful I so can't wait till they arrive. I have no idea what I am going to do with these but woooooop.
(All the pictures are from the order so not mine)
The problem then stared that I was having to much fun looking at pretty things that I found the Blooming Felt website and more pretty button and ribbon shopping happened. So feeling a bit poorer but very excited I think I better go and get on with some coursework.

Handbag charm
Today I had a lovely shopping trip with my sister, where we spent way to much money but I bought a lovely new handbag. Which in typical me style needs a few personal touches so starting with a handbag charm.
I had the clip from a charm I bought a few years ago but it needed a few beads and pretty things.
I love it so starkly and pretty :) xxx

Phone socks
So I have been a bit rubbish about new posts but I will do better!!!!!
Anyway recently the madness has continued so I have been doing lots of small projects so I can carry them around with me instead of having to be at home sewing. And my new love is phone socks. They are a little quaint.
The great thing is they make wonderful presents. I was going to stick with flowers and the house (with owls and the like to follow) all images I have used before, but my friend is getting a few and shes a bit of a cat lover so cute moon gazer cat and the kitten were designed.
Anyway the owls have been continuing also..............
Romeo

Hanging Birds
As promised the lovely birds are ready.
They are going to be the main point of my craft stall which I am now starting to plan. My first stall should be exciting.
After my covered diary I said my little sister was after her diary covering, so she let me get my hands on her homework diary, but she wouldn't let it be anything to girly this is the compromise we came to and so far all her friends love it.

Diary cover
I have never been one for diary's, I usually just use my phone but life has got a little hectic at the moment. So I thought I would dig out one I was given for Christmas by my Grandma. But it was really awful design so rather than my diary being a social reject I made a pretty cover :)
I made a few mistakes and in the future I wont try and make a cloth inside and will just use pretty card. but its turn out really cute.
Now my sister is making me do the same to hers so watch this space....
My next plan is to make hanging animal decorations, so I have been trying out lots of sizes and shapes, but I think I am going to make birds, owls and fish.
but heres the bird shape...
so the next step is to make lots of birds exciting :)

Flower Pin cushion
I've been making lots of pin cushions to go with the decorated pins. So for the flowers I made a pretty flower pin cushion which went home with a friend along with some of the pins.
- First cut out two circles in matching materials, leaving about 1/2 cm for the hem.
- Stitch around the circle with the materials back to back, leaving about 1inch gap to turn inside out.
- Turn the material the right way round and stuff to your firmness, and hand stitch the gap.
- Thread a needle with either cotton or cross-stitch silks and knot so you are sewing with 4 lengths thickness.
- Stitch in the middle and take thread right the way round the cushion and stitch back in the same place, making sure that it is tighter than the cushion. Repeat this twice more.
- Put a button on the top and bottom to cover stitching. And Bobs your uncle.

Pimp my pins
I've fallen in love with poly clay at the moment and have been making pretty tops on pins. Which my sister has named Pimp my pins so I apologies for this but I haven't been able to come up with a better name.
So I've been making loads of fruit toppers to go with my apple and pear pin cushions in the last post.
I've also been making lots of flowers and pretty mushrooms and cupcakes which I will upload pictures soon.
But they are really pretty.

Apple and pear pin cushion
So I found this tutorial for apple and pear pin cushions, so I though I would have a go. I really enjoyed making these.

I preferred the pear pin cushion it was much easier and it came out better. The templates can be printed out and blown up or shrunk as wanted.

- Cut out 6 pieces of any material of your choice, I mix the material and the colours, using the template leaving over 1/2 cm for the seem.
- Sew 3 pieces together inside out so when they are folded out they make half a ball. do the same for the other 3.
- Role a piece of felt into a stalk and stitch to hold. Sew to the top (were the smaller end of the templates meet) of one of the halfs.
- Sew to two halfs together, leaving a gap near the bottom of one of sides for filling.
- Fill with stuffing and hand stitch the hole.
- Stitch on a circle of felt onto the bottom to tidy.
and Bobs your uncle. Please experiment with loads of different colours have fun.
